Hey Margaux! can you tell us a bit more about yourself and what you do?

Sure! I am a retired social media influencer turned marketing agency owner. My company is called MBM Influencer Management and we offer both influencers and businesses services that range from social media marketing to public relations. We recently launched a new range of services that include influencer representation and influencer campaign management. This means we work with brands to create successful marketing campaigns with the use of social media influencers. It’s very exciting and our company is growing rapidly!

What does empowerment mean to you?

Empowerment is all about living fearlessly as your true self, free from the worry about being judged by others.

It’s about embracing yourself for who you are, flaws and all. When we live authentically, we inspire others to do the same.

What challenges have you faced in recent years?

The past year has been riddled with unexpected medical issues. It’s been challenging, frightening, and extremely time consuming to deal with both the emotional and physical impact these issues have taken on my body. I am typically a very healthy person so it’s frustrating when your body starts “acting up!”

How have you overcome them?

I have always believed that from struggle comes strength.

As I’ve gone through these medical issues, I have discovered that I am much stronger than I ever imagined. The experiences I’ve faced have taught me the importance of maintaining balance in my life while focusing on self-care. It’s also shown me how important it is to have authentic relationships with the people in your life. My friends and family have been so supportive and loving during these challenging times. I’m very grateful to them.

What does Self-love mean to you?

My definition of self-love means giving yourself permission to take a break and focus on doing things that make you happy. It’s about putting your needs first before those of others. That may sound selfish but I often have a tendency to take care of everybody else before I focus on myself. I’ve learned that self-care is actually a wonderful way to benefit not only ourselves but the lives of others. When we love authentic selves, we feel happy, balanced, inspired, and free from negativity. This allows to feel more energized and focused, giving us the ability to help others!

Ever since I started spending time working on my artwork and playing in the garden, my business has boomed.

That’s because I feel more energized to help my clients succeed while being able to take on more work. Balance and self-love are the keys to success!

How do you look after yourself day to day?

I try to keep a schedule that focuses on balancing both my professional and personal life duties. In fact, I have a little planner that sits on my desk to remind me what I’ve got going on each day. I literally make lists for everything! As I accomplish something, I check it off and move on to the next item on my list. It feels really great to revisit my planner at the end of the day and see all that I’ve accomplished.

What do you do if you go off track?

In the past, I would beat myself up for not sticking with my plan. I found that this type of negative thinking just dragged me down and made me even less productive. Instead, I now realize that I’m not “super woman” and sometimes I just can’t get everything done! I will just simply reschedule whatever it is that I need to do for another day and move on. No more negative self-talk!

What advice would you give to other women to help them feel more empowered?

Embrace your self-perceived flaws. Flaws make you fabulous! They are what set you apart from everybody else and make you uniquely YOU! Besides, why would you want to be like everybody else?

You are an original…a one-of-a-kind being. There’s power in embracing that!

What’s your favourite dessert?

Gluten-free lemon bars and crème brulee! And I don’t share my desserts either. They’re all mine. LOL
